Cardiac Electrophysiology Basics – Request for Comments

I’ve written up a basic introduction, with pictures, to my field of research. I would really appreciate it if any of you could read it over, tell me if you find it understandable, what’s unclear, etc. I need people who aren’t very familiar with this stuff.

It’s lacking some later stuff that’s more relevant to my research (at this point) but I want to get the foundations right before I move on.

Please please please help me with this.

The page is here. Also, sorry if you got this cross-posted on my LiveJournal.

So, I read your write-up. Very interesting and easy to understand. The only part I didn’t follow was the section after the camera flash, on potassium, calcium, and sodium interacting in the cells. But it’s probably because I’m too tired to think and don’t feel like putting in the effort to understand. But overall good stuff and very easy to understand, even for me.

Jason: I do think I need to clarify that part a bit. I should probably start with equal concentrations of potassium on both sides and then show what happens as the potassium from one side is pumped into the other. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Hey, Brock – great idea. I am going to get my mom to look at this. I think she’s the perfect test case – well educated, sciency, but not necessarily in this specific field. I will let you know, or I’ll haver her post her own comments.
