Why?

So, people are asking around the world why God would do such a horrible thing.

Use Occam’s Razor. God had nothing to do with it. That dispenses with all of the conflicting opinions and theories. Sometimes earthquakes happen. When they happen in the ocean, Tsunamis result. It’s happened before, and will happen again. Get over it, and quit trying to assign meaning to something when there is none. Okay, I’m done ranting.

MPlayerplug-in works!

All this time I’ve had such a bad opinion of mplayerplug-in for linux. As it turns out, I was using version 0.91, which I compiled shortly after setting up the computer. The latest version is 2.66. I installed it and voila! I can finally watch trailers on Apple’s website. I point this out because it was one of the more problematic media playing situations I’ve ever encountered.

For those of you out there using Linux, if you weren’t aware of this, try it out!

Brockumentary

In a moment of (not entirely self-) inspired cleverness, I have renamed my blog from “Webrock – like a weblog only not spelled the same” to “Brockumentary – It’s the story of my life!”

Woo-pah ninja style.

more running stuff

I tried out the new running shoes. They were great, it was me that mucked things up. I made it about seven miles at which point friction really became my enemy, and we’ll leave it at that. Anyway I felt like I could have kept running for a while, my legs weren’t feeling too bad.

They are now. My knees hurt a bit when I get up from a chair, but not very badly. As soon as I stopped running and slowed to a walk it felt like I was walking on pillows. Just to reiterate, the shoes rock.

I want to be able to do the half marathon for the Mardi Gras Marathon, which gives me almost two months to add 6 miles. I don’t think it’ll be a big problem actually, I felt like I could almost have done it today. I didn’t say it would be a fast half marathon, but hey.

I’m consequently feeling pretty beat [sic], but I should sleep well. I’m still trying to keep the entries coming every day, whether public or private. I just need to keep getting stuff out of my head and on to the screen.
