Mostly recovered from Jet Lag

It’s been four days since my return flight from Washington to Maryland, and I’m finally (mostly) recovered from jet lag. Amanda claims not to suffer from jet lag due to time changes of less than 5 hours, but I don’t know how. It affects me pretty strongly, and the worst is always the West to East direction. Of course, Seattle to Baltimore is only half as bad as Baltimore to London. That was completely awful, and I don’t know how so many people can do it so often. Maybe they’re like Amanda.

I was free-running for a few days, not using my checklists and so on. In fact, half the time I could barely do more than lay on the floor and take a nap. Things should be returning to normal now. I know I keep saying that, but one of these times it will be true.

I missed the last Hearty Friday, so I’ll post one soon, once again off-schedule.

Amanda may do well, then, while taking overnight call. “Well” is a relative term, of course, but the necessity of flexibility of sleep while taking call makes jet lag more tolerable. I think. I have no data for this.

Yeah, in general I do well with sleep disturbances. If I pull an all-nighter one night, and then go to bed early the next night, usually after that I am back on track. I do have a hard time getting myself on an early schedule after vacation though (I’m a night owl) because it usually means I will have to get up early after too little sleep , and I hate getting up after not enough sleep.
