As of today Amanda and…

As of today Amanda and I are home owners, we closed today on our house in St. Paul, Minnesota and are both currently driving. She is driving toward St. Paul while I am driving towards Baltimore to be followed by a drive to St. Paul once I pickup the reminder of my belongings. listen

Last Trip

I’m on my way to New Orleans for the last (planned) time. After this, I’ll be moving to MN, and my scheduled trips to NOLA will come to an end.

I’m preparing to soak it up as much as I can over the next week. I’ll try not to gain too much weight in the process!

Remove All Facebook Ads

I could live with the ads on Facebook when they stayed on the sidebar, but now that they’re inserting them everywhere in the site, I’ve had enough.

Enter this Greasemonkey script. For those of you not familiar with it, Greasemonkey allows you to use scripts to modify the web pages you view on the fly. Fortunately for you and I, but unfortunately for advertisers and other people doing annoying things on the net, your browser is the final arbiter of what you see. By controlling directly how your browser displays pages, it’s possible to remove annoyances from your awareness. Greasemonkey makes this easy to do in Firefox.

Today, after I decided I’d had it with the Facebook ads, I just searched for “greasemonkey facebook ads”. The script works splendidly. Yet another win for Firefox.

Phun With Macs

Phun, the interactive physics simulator, is now available for Mac OS X.

Be warned. If you like physics or tinkering around with things, this program could be a huge time sync sink. (I’ve been futzing with SyncML too much lately.) I was playing with it in (ugh) Windows XP last time I was in New Orleans, and Amanda informs me that what I thought was about 20 minutes was actually closer to two hours.
