Today marks the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, the man who really kicked off the science of evolutionary biology. You can learn more about international Darwin day, and hold a party. I’d love to, but I don’t have the time right now. What are you doing for Darwin day?

Happy Friday everyone. As the favicon for virtuallyshocking.com is a little pixellated heart (with a lightning bolt across it), I couldn’t resist posting this neat Valentine photo. Have a great weekend and a Happy Valentine’s Day. (Due to the joys of having a resident as a spouse, we are postponing it to sometime when she is not on call.)

Happy Friday, everyone! Nothing like literally giving your heart to someone as a Valentine’s gift. Have a good weekend.
(Note: Brock Tice and Virtuallyshocking.com do not endorse actually removing your own heart.)

I thought this was pretty appropriate, as it was the study of the squid giant axon by Hodgkin and Huxley that really launched cardiac simulation. Happy Friday, everyone!
