It is available on the Android Market and the Google Code project page.
Improvements include louder bell sounds, automatic volume maximization, smarter handling of the onscreen keyboard and the text input fields. I also improved the icons in the app to meet the Android guidelines.
Hi Brock…
Thank you for “Just Sit.” I have it on my Droid Eris, and we enjoy using it.
I do have a question. My impression is, if I allow the screen to sleep, Just Sit doesn’t chime until I turn it back on. Is it possible to let the screen go off yet still have the program active?
Mike
Mike, thanks for letting me know about that. I think it might not have been on older versions of Android, but I’ve had two reports of this recently. This report helps me narrow down the problem.
Another comment … it seems that, at least on my handset, Just Sit uses minutes made up of 100-second. Always nice to get a little extra!
Bizarre, that definitely doesn’t happen for me. This is the Droid Eris?
My error … it shows seconds only. I avoid the clock while sitting. Out of the corner of my eye, saw the last two digits if “95,” and I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Sorry for the confusion!
Hi Brock,
A friend of mine uses ‘Just Sit’ for his mediation group – DIY Dharma. They have a Drupal website where they’d like to record the number of minutes ‘sitting’ to each user’s profile.
I have written some code that will automatically update a Drupal site from another source (an app, another site, etc.) via GET/POST commands.
DIY Dharma has asked me to write an app like ‘Just Sit’ and have it post results to Drupal. I’m using Eclipse for development.
Are you interested in sharing your code with me so I can implement this feature?
Thanks,
tim
Sure, actually, it’s an open source app. I should double-check that the latest source is posted, but you can find the source by going to the google project page:
http://code.google.com/p/justsit/
and then to the source tab
http://code.google.com/p/justsit/source/checkout
Let me know if you have any trouble. See http://brocktice.com for my full contact info if you want to call or anything.
First I would like to thank you for making JustSit available. Are you still developing it?
I temporarily have it on hold for further development, as I’m swamped with other stuff. However, it is open source, and is accessible on Google Code, so anyone is welcome to work on it and join the project before I get time to work on it again.
it seems like the version on the google code page isn’t the latest version. I haven’t coded anything for android (but other things), so maybe.
Henrik: Thanks, you’re right! Let that slide too. I just updated it.
